En las montañas…Oh, I forgot you all speak English!
In the mountains of Comayagua where we stay, there are many families who do not own Bibles. The farther away from the city, the less opportunity people have to hear and learn about the true word of God. They likely know about Jesus and know He died for our sins. But for them, Jesus is dead. A big problem in these communities is that many people cannot or are not allowed to read the Bible themselves.
The Catracho team has allowed our squad to be a part of a test mission to distribute Bibles during our house visits. While they may not all be received, 80 Bibles have been bought for the community. As a Squad, we get the personal opportunity to pass out the Bible’s and even have Bible studies with the families. Do you want to empower us in this beautiful mission? Please pray about:
-
Praying regularly for the Bibles to be distributed and received in the homes! (This aspect of participation is not just a side opportunity, it is the motor of all our efforts!)
-
Paying for a Bible! ($5 per Bible. That means $5 to feed a whole family with the Word of Life!)
You can Venmo my mom at: https://venmo.com/u/Becky-Stuart-21 Please label the donation “Bible” and the money will be transferred towards this mission! If the needed amount is exceeded before your gift is used, the money will still go towards the Catracho Missions team and their work!
Thank you all!
As a Squad, we have been working through personal challenges that has affected our collective body. But as the day of our Lords resurrection came, we were spurred on to digging deeper. As a result, we collectively and openly discussed our mindsets, struggles and desires for our future together in Honduras. Some people have good reasons for wanting to be home. Some people have good reasons for not wanting to be home. We have all failed in different ways to be completely present for our time in Honduras. But we all want to align our hearts, minds and our tongues with the will of God. As 1 Thessalonians says, “…rejoice always…” We all want to encourage one another to rejoice always in all circumstances and in all seasons of our lives! As He is risen, we too rise with Him!

We travel into town one day per week for personal grocery shopping and wifi usage and morale boosting. On our day out last week, we went to Pastor Paul’s friend/connection who owns a chocolate shop. We got a tour and learned all about the natural ways of making chocolate while getting the opportunity to test taste 25 different flavors! But the majority of our time was spent learning about chocolate. Now…white chocolate has been scorned, mocked and laughed at.
It’s not actually chocolate, they said.
It’s just sugar, they said.
It’s not real, they said.
They said wrong.
White chocolate is indeed chocolate. The whiteness does not come from adding more milk and sugar, it comes from the cacao beans in cocao butter form. I tasted that cool, creamy white chocolatey texture in cacao beans in butter form with NO other ingredients. The cacao then becomes chocolate once sugar is added. This includes certain dark chocolates, milk chocolate and white chocolate.

But the real testimony comes from an interaction after our chocolate tour. A lady named Patty came into the shop asking for prayer. She was deaf and spoke only sign language. We learned her name when she spelled it out on the glass of the door. And we were able to communicate minimally with her because Rissa speaks ASL which is in some ways similar to Spanish sign language. Jaydin, Rissa, Ellie, Holly, Ezra, Charley, Carter and I eagerly prayed over her. Apparently Patty had seen our whole group walking together through the central square and she saw light in our eyes. To her, we were not only different because our skin is a different shade but because our demeanor was strikingly opposed to everyone else.
Patty then described with tears about her stomach issue that when she eats food, she always throws it back up. So she was very weak, and obviously felt utterly defeated by life. When we learned about her issue, we prayed for her again and this time with purpose and faith. As we laid hands on her, her body began to sway and soon she had collapsed slowly in our arms and onto the floor. We continued to pray. Her eyes closed and she breathed heavily, as if struggling to let go of something that her soul had held onto for a very long time. We stayed in that position for a few minutes until she finally rose to her feet. She explained seeing the glory, the brightness and beauty of Christ standing in front of her. Christ had shown up to her in a vision during our prayer! She radiated His glory and we became the recipients of that radiance. I trust that the Lord has healed and will continue to heal Patty in the physical and the spiritual body until completion. That may be bold, but my heart longs for the Lord’s reality instead of my own.
One question for you all:
Are your actions reflecting your longing for Him?
(My tent after a prayer time. It has been anointed with oil!)
Finally, please thank the Lord for:
-
A beautiful and fun filled Easter that helped bring our squad back to seeing the Lord rightly!
-
The Catracho Missions team which are examples of the joy of the Lord every day!
-
The opportunities to share Jesus in the houses, on the streets and amongst ourselves.
Please pray for:
-
Continued connection and eager determination to finish the Race well for the squad.
-
The hearts of the people in these mountains to be open and eager to hear the Gospel.
-
To fill and satisfy the amazing Catracho Missions team as they continue to not just serve this community but serve our squad in hosting us.
You are all so faithful and I am truly grateful that you are still here with me. Thank you!
Your friend,
Lia.
