Every stage of life up till now has prepared you for this moment. -Abba

The Lord has been giving me new, yet very familiar lessons and revelations as I spend time with Him in Guatemala.

I’ve begun to realize with more clarity how my intimacy with Him and my knowledge of Him has grown deeper and deeper from the hours and days and seasons of my life where He showed up.

He was preparing me for every step adelante (ahead).

He is preparing me for every step from here as well.

Without the lessons I learned in Swaziland, I wouldn’t have been prepared for Malaysia where all of us girls lived together in one big room, giving up every preference and desire of our own for the sake of the group. Also, in Malaysia, my heart was broken for the lost people who didn’t know the name of Jesus and from that desolation, the Lord taught me His deepest desire was to partner with me in the secret place. Without Malaysia, I wouldn’t have had a softened heart to receive the blessings and freedom He is pouring into my needy heart.

But because of His work in my heart already, I am able to step into these deep waters of self reflection, surrender and intercession as I do now.

As the Lord truly performs the time consuming task of deep heart surgery, my flesh, or my human self, fears what He is finding and what He will change.

Yet, the Lord is very clear. DO NOT BE AFRAID.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid nor be discouraged for I the Lord your God am with you always.” Joshua 1:9

Now for some info!

My team (Rissa, Holly, Skylar, Abby and Ella) is serving at the Academy of Future Leaders in Parramos.

The primary goal of the school is to equip the locals with the ability to speak English which inevitably opens the doors of opportunities.

We teach Monday-Friday (not Thursdays)

Preschool: 7:30am-11:30am.

School
AFL
Bye Elif

Elementary-adult aged English classes: 2pm-5pm.

Santi
Mid school
Highschool

Because these classes often center on conversational skills, I love to talk about their faith and my own faith with them. (While helping them verbalize what they are trying to say in their second language.)

On Thursdays, the whole squad has “Activation.” Activation is a time where we receive a lesson in the morning from one of the Guatemala long-term staff members and use what we have gained during the teaching!

Thank you all for being so patient with my blogs and for coming back even with this unexpected website format change!

I would incredibly love prayer for:

  • The Lord to continue to reveal my heart postures and to align them to His true heart.

  • I would not feel the pressure of fixing “His children.” (I.e. the people and situations around me. Not to mention my own heart.)

  • My team right now in our teaching ministry. (Some of my teammates don’t feel naturally inclined to the type of school teaching we do. Some of us also have personal battles that make it difficult to serve those around us with everything God has given us to give😉.)

Please THANK the good Lord for:

  • Every new revelation, new word and epiphanies of the Spirit He has been giving me.

  • For the hard season right now where He is showing me that Lia must die in the flesh so that I may live with Jesus in the Spirit. (It is in this time, He has been comforting me and speaking to me the most I have ever experienced before.)

  • For the DELICIOUS food here in Guatemala!

Volcán

I’m excited to see you all before too long and grow in the Lord together. I also can’t wait to see my parents at PVT (parent vision trip) in Guatemala where we will all serve the Lord together! (P.S. Please pray for that time as well!!)

Thank you!

May Jesus bless you and keep you AND make His face shine upon you and give you peace,

Lia.
